N8 on philippines by end of september??

We got an interesting lead from Pinaylover about the possible release date of the Nokia N8 on philippines by end of september.

We're both I'm subscribed with the Nokia N8's facebook page but I didn't notice this post. Hopefully this is true as their are lot of filipinos dying to get their hands on this phone. And if ever this is real, this will be the first time that Nokia PH will not be very very late in high end product release.

Thank you very much pinaylover for the tip!

Actually I'm not subscribed to that page (I don't even have a Facebook account yet, lol), I just check it from time to time and somehow i noticed that post.

Of course the information is as much reliable as can any other internet information be, lol. But maybe you can get in contact with Greenbelt Nokia Center (Manila ?) and ask about this for yourself ?

If only i have the resources to go that nokia world, i'll be very happy.

On the side, I'm now wondering how come you are so updated but dont even accounts on facebook nor twitter. I'm thinking, am i too dependent on this websites? hahaha.

Well, I'm sure it would be really cool to be there, but i heard that an invitation to Nokia World costs about 700 euro and i would rather spend those money to actually buy me an N8 (and almost another one for my lady too) :D

As for why I'm so updated, don't let me start on how much time I'm wasting just following these news on various internet places. That's one reason why I'm eagerly waiting to buy the N8, so I can finally break free from this (almost) obsession :D

Speaking of that, we might have now an officially launch day :

Oh, and for the impatient ones needing something to read till N8 is out, you can check the last version of N8's User Guide (122 pages):

700 euro just to visit a 1 or 2 day event? . I'd rather spend that amount of money on other things. People in the Philippines are very keen on money/expense consumption. As much as possible we want the cost we incur as effective as possible.

Same here, i don't like throwing away my money on things i don't really need. As I said before, with 700 euro (+VAT !) I can actually buy two N8s.

But then again, I could live without this phone too, because i already have things that can replace more or less what it can do.

Naaah...who am I kidding?? I need this phone ! :D

your're right with augmented reality. I never thought of this one. With GPS , the device will know your location and then with the magnetic compass the device will know your orientation, which places you are facing.

ahh ok.
anyway I contacted the Nokia shop at greenbelt and they don't give any information about the release. They told me that no exact information about N8's arrival date have been memo'ed to them.

But they could still say that even though they really know the exact date , maybe because they are instructed not to do so.

Yeah, most likely they are instructed to not give away any info that could spoil the N8 launch. And Ansi probably got that info unofficially from an insider there.

On another note, regarding the imminent N8 launch at Nokia World in 14-15th Sept, Damian Dining (the guy behind N8's camera development) posted a very teasing message on twitter :

(no, I don't have a twitter account either :D)

Got it. This is the first time i learned that nokia n8 will incorporate the magnetic compass. aside from the maps application, im thinking of the magetic compass other usuage. For gaming perhaps? i dont know.

Pinaylover said...

Yeah, probably for gaming and also maybe on those augmented reality applications (map related anyway).
I'm curious too on what else can the compass be used to.
